14-16 July 2010 First Philippine Chocolate and Ice Cream Show

organized by BMT Events Solutions, Inc
in partnership with Pastry Alliance of the Philippines

this event was the first of its kind here in our country.  glad to find out about it from my sister who works in the dairy and flour industry.  and since we were able to get leaflets from her, our entrance fee was free.  the show was held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

while there, we watched the 3rd Batch of the Chocolate Cake Battle Royale where we saw five young chefs busily creating their best cake decorations.  some of the judges i recognized were Penk Ching of The Pastry Bin and Jackie Ang-Po of Fleur de Lys.  call us "chef-struck"!

we also attended a short coffee business seminar conducted by Sussana Edilo of Equilibrium Intertrade Corporation and Philippine Barista and Coffee Academy.  i learned a few things about coffee.  that the best and most expensive beans are the arabica.  that we were once one of the top coffee producers in the world but after the 2nd world war we were not able to recover.  that with a budget of 60k, i can start my own small/homebased coffee shop.  if you're eager to learn more about coffee, and are thinking of opening a shop soon, better get in touch with them asap.  you'll learn a lot, that's for sure.
