August 23 and 30, 2010 Public Holidays

August 23** and 30, both Mondays, have been declared as special non-working holiday*** and regular Philippine holiday***, respectively. Even if reports say that P-Noy does not wish to highlight any of the death anniversaries of his parents for personal reasons, he will respect the Holiday Economics Policy or Republic Act 9492 passed during ex-Pres Gloria Macapal Arroyo's term.

August 23 commemorates the death anniversary of his late father, Senator Benigno Aquino Sr., while August 30 is National Heroes Day.

**as of last night, August 11, the Palace has declared that Ninoy Aquino Day will be celebrated on Saturday, August 21, making it a non-working holiday.  this means -- August 23 is a regular working day.  =(

***pls take note of the ffg pay computations during special non-working and regular holidays:
Regular Holidays: employees who report to work receive 200 percent basic wage for the first eight hours, plus an additional 30 percent of the per-hour rate for the succeeding hours counted as overtime.

Special Non-Working Holidays, employees get 130 percent of the daily rate for the first eight hours with additional 30 percent hourly rate for overtime.
